One area of the pitch Marcelo Bielsa never managed to reinforce last summer was his midfield.
Leeds United were linked with many players for a role in the Argentine’s plans, but neither Rodrigo De Paul, Michaël Cuisance or Erick Pulgar (in January) made the switch to Elland Road.
That means Bielsa will still want someone there going forward, and CentoTrentuno believe that man could be Nahitan Nández from Cagliari.
Already linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, the 25-year-old remained in Italy for the current season, although a few feel this might be his last thanks to a €36m release clause in his contract.
A number of clubs are circulating, including Leeds and AS Roma, with the former of the two already putting forward an offer last September.
They write that ‘a lot has changed’ since then on both sides, as Cagliari have ‘reduced their dreams’, while the Premier League side have gone from newly promoted to a consolidated team in the league.
Furthermore, there’s Bielsa, who has made Nández a ‘target’ of his as he feels he is a player who ‘would fit perfectly into his system’.
The website wonder whether ‘that €30m offer sent back to sender eight months ago cannot be evaluated more carefully in the near future, without the worries of a market that is almost closing’.
It could easily be on its way, as the relationship ‘between Andrea Radrizzani and Tommaso Giulini is more than friendly’, and ‘the offer from the last days of the last summer market is ready to be presented again as soon as the season comes to an end’.
We’ll be watching this space.
