Leeds United’s first offer for Udinese defender Jaka Bijol was €16m, but the player is valued at €20-25m.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who provide transfer fee details after reports earlier today of Leeds’ rejected offer.
Sky Italy and journalist Gianluca di Marzio reported earlier today that Leeds had seen a bid rejected for the Udinese defender. They made no mention of the fees involved in that first bid.
Gazzetta now provide that, explaining that Leeds’ first bid for the 26-year-old was valued at €16m. This was considered too little as the defender is currently valued by Udinese at €20-25m.
The newspaper states that the various parties could meet again soon to discuss the transfer. This echoes Di Marzio, who also said more meetings were planned to discuss the player.
Leeds United have been liked with a move for Bijol for weeks as they plan a big summer of spending to bolster their squad for a return to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke has reportedly been backed by the club’s ownership and the plan is to strengthen the squad in the coming weeks and months. Bijol is one of those seemingly at the top of the list, and talks are set to be resumed later today after an initial bid was rejected by Udinese.
