In the winter market, Leeds United allowed Diego Llorente to join AS Roma on loan with an option to buy.
The defender made one appearance in February and there were concerns whether the Serie A side will retain him beyond this season. He’s made three appearances in the last four matches and that has helped the 29-year-old change the trend.
On Monday, ASRomaLive.it reported the player has ‘closed his cycle’ at Leeds and Roma could try to buy him after this season.
Wednesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport states the Spain international remains hopeful he could seal a permanent move to Roma in June.
The Leeds owned player is working to convince the Giallorossi to ‘give it a try’ to make his stay permanent, for a fee lower than [€18m] what was agreed with the Whites. There aren’t many possibilities, but even if there’s one, he wants to take it.
Llorente’s performance in Roma’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria last weekend may have opened up a new scenario. The Spaniard has shown he’s good at marking, comfortable with the ball at his feet and also when playing from the back.
Gazzetta state Llorente will do his best in order to convince Roma to buy him from Leeds after this season.
