Marc Roca’s ‘remarkable start’ to life at Real Betis after arriving from Leeds United this summer could see him making his return for Spain.
That’s according to Mucho Deporte, who say the midfielder has been included in Luis de la Fuente’s pre-list for the next international break.
They explain that Roca, who scored his first goal for Betis against Valencia recently, ‘seems to be recovering’ under Manuel Pellegrini’s guidance.
The Spaniard endured something of a miserable year at Leeds last season following a move from Bayern Munich, as he was unable to rediscover his old form or stop them from being relegated from the Premier League.
He subsequently left to join Betis on loan this summer and has been impressing since, so much so that he now ‘attracts the attention’ of Luis de la Fuente.
He’s included the Catalan in his pre-list for the next international break, when Spain take on Norway and Scotland.
It ‘does not seem easy’ for him to end up in the main squad, though, as the list also includes the likes of Gavi, Oriol Romeu, Mikel Merino, Rodri and Javi Guerra.
That is ‘top-level competition’ for him to beat but the fact that he is even on the list shows he may be getting back to his best and the decision to leave Leeds was a smart one, something we seem to be saying quite often about players from their squad last season.
On the flip side, that can only be good for potential sales or returns next year.
