Much maligned during his first season at Leeds after arriving from NEC Nijmegen for £1.44m last summer, Jay-Roy Grot was sent on loan to VVV-Venlo to get some game time away from Elland Road.

Still determined to make a name for himself at the Championship club, the 20-year-old is trying his best to show Marcelo Bielsa and co. that he has what it takes during his time away, and he’s getting somewhere.

The youngster has started seven of a possible 10 league games in the Eredivisie so far this season, and has scored two goals and picked up one assist.

In fact, his overall performances have been good enough to earn him his first ever call up to the Netherlands U21 team for the upcoming international break, having previously represented his country at U17, U18, U19 and U20 level.
