AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez is a target for Leeds United, according to reports today.
The claims come from Portugal, where newspaper Record details the race for the 19-year-old player.
The outlet focuses on Benfica’s interest in Kerkez, claiming they have the youngster as an option to replace Alex Grimaldo, who could leave the Eagles for free at the end of the season.
And as Record learned that there’s more competition for the signing, it’s said that Leeds are one of the clubs who follow him as well.
Record writes that AZ Alkmaar want at least €20m to negotiate Kerkez. Benfica, not willing to pay all that amount, are already thinking of promising the Dutch side a percentage of a future sale to get the deal done.
But it’s not only Leeds who are offering the Eagles some fight for this signing.
Actually, the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all said to be interested in him as well.
The fullback has three goals and six assists this season, and has been doing more than enough to draw big attention in European football.
Leeds had already been linked to Grimaldo this year, so it’s curious that they’re now also after the Spaniard’s potential replacement.
