Pablo Hernandez has revealed his ‘pride’ at the continued love he is receiving from Leeds United fans, despite leaving Elland Road this summer.

Hernandez brought an end to a five-year spell with Leeds back in July when both parties elected to let his contract expire so he could leave on a free transfer.

That ended a glorious spell at the club for the Spaniard, who racked up 36 goals and 41 assists in 175 games, the best numbers he’s posted for any club during his long career.

It saw him establish himself as a firm favourite among the Leeds fanbase during his time there, and he was awarded Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 as a result.

Indeed, many would have been happy to keep him this summer despite his advancing years, and it seems he’s still feeling the affection at new club Castellón.

“It was five years where I connected very well with the fans,” he told Castellon Plaza.

“Now that I’ve come home, I continue to receive that affection and I get hundreds of messages after every game from Leeds fans who follow Castellón.

“For me, it is a source of pride and I am very grateful because I have felt very loved there.”
