It’s revolution at Roma at this moment in time as the Friedkin Group try to haul the Italian club back on track, and it seems Leeds will have their part to play in that.
That’s at least according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the latest big changes are being overseen by Andrea Iore, who is using his experiences at Leeds to guide him.
Roma are currently reorganising their entire scouting network and Iore has been tasked with the job after arriving as Head of Recruitment at the beginning of November.
The 32-year-old previously worked at Leeds for eight years, first arriving at Elland Road as a scout before then becoming head scout in July 2016.
He held that role for eight years and ‘structured himself’ alongside Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa, the latter a ‘gentleman who knows football very well’. The belief is that Iore has learned from both and is now using that experience to now help Roma.
That experience at Leeds means he is ‘already a guarantee’ for Roma and, alongside the director of football Florent Ghisolfi and supported by the Friedkins, is now reshaping the scouting department.
They want to bring in ‘quality profiles’ that are specialised in specific areas of expertise who can mix the old-style eye test of a scout with data analysis.
Several have already arrived, and more are on the way in the coming months, with Iore using the experience he earned at Leeds to guide his new role.
