It’s been a few days since we covered the latest on Charles De Ketelaere and Leeds’ pursuit of the Belgian.
When we last left it, it was his manager at Club Brugge speaking, explaining that he didn’t think the player was busy with a transfer, which we all know isn’t entirely true.
That’s because Leeds and Milan have been trying to sign the forward, with the Elland Road side offering the most money, but their Serie A counterparts being the 21-year-old’s preference.
This has held up any move to England, as he holds out for a transfer to Italy, which is what Gazzetta dello Sport cover on Monday.
The newspaper explain Club Brugge want as much money as possible for their star, which they are entitled to do, but know they will only get it from Milan now.
That’s because Leeds have been ‘discouraged’, and have since ‘stepped aside’, knowing that De Ketelaere only wants a move to Milan.
Jesse Marsch’s side had offered a €37m package for the Belgium international, but the Italians have reached ‘just over €30m overall’.
Brugge, down their end, ‘continue to ask for €35m’, and the belief is that the next 48 hours should give us an indication of whether a deal can be struck.
As for Leeds, it appears they have now moved onto other players, focusing on those that actually want to move to Elland Road.
