Leeds United are among the ‘most interested’ clubs for Rubin Kazan’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is extremely like to move this summer.
That’s according to Il Mattino, who put Jesse Marsch’s side at the top of the list of interested parties after the player was released by the Russian side.
Kvaratskhelia is currently playing in his native Georgia for Dinamo Batumi, having joined the club on loan earlier month, taking advantage of the new rules put in place by FIFA, allowing players to transfer out of Russia and Ukraine if they wished to do so.
There’s now been another development in the story, with Il Mattino explaining that Kvaratskhelia has officially terminated his contract with Rubin Kazan after the player pushed for it following criticism of him for playing for a Russian club.
Kvaratskhelia is now set to play the last few months of the season with Batumi in the summer before looking elsewhere, something which will be of interest to Leeds.
The newspaper explains that several clubs have ‘knocked on his door’ in recent weeks, including Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli.
They are set for tough competition, however, with Kvaratskhelia courting interest from the Premier League and Leeds in particular.
They are one of the ‘most interested clubs’ in his signature, and that could now be ramped up now that the situation with Kazan has developed.
Il Mattino make no mention of what kind of talks might have been held or even if Leeds have expressed any kind of interest or intent to the player, just that they are one of the sides keen on him as he looks for a ‘leap forward’.
There’s plenty left in this one, then, but Kvaratskhelia’s situation certainly makes things interesting for Leeds should they wish to bring him to Elland Road in the summer.
