Only appearing on the bench once last season for Strasbourg, Mohamed Simakan grasped the chance offered to him by Thierry Lauray early on in the 2019-20 campaign with both hands and quickly made himself very useful to the manager.

The 19-year-old centre-back can also play down the right-hand side, where he has featured more often than not, and has impressed so much that teams like Milan and Tottenham have come knocking.

The former of the two, according to RMC Sport, are readying a €15m bid to be made in the next few weeks for the defender, which is an amount Strasbourg only see as the starting point for negotiations.

As for Tottenham, the French outlet expect José Mourinho’s side to be ‘expected on the market for young players this summer’, and have ‘enquired more concretely than just a simple report not too long ago’.

Speaking to RMC, the player’s agent said: “In this very complicated context, it isn’t simple to talk about a transfer, but it’s clear that opportunities exist for Mohamed. Leaving is an option. First, there’s a season to finish. Then, we’ll see with Marc Keller (Strasbourg’s president)”.

However, it’s made clear that should Simakan decide to leave, he has a ‘preference for Germany’ where a certain Borussia Dortmund reportedly ‘continue to have regular contacts’.
