Newcastle United target Cenk Tosun has reportedly told his agent he wants to stay at Besiktas until the end of the season.

The 26 year old has been linked with Newcastle United in recent months, and this week there were reports Aleksandar Mitrovic could be used in a possible deal to bring Tosun to St James Park in January.

Sporx have paraphrased what Tosun has reportedly told Ceylan Caliskan about his future: “I would like to stay at Besiktas until the end of the season. Don’t tell me anything about the transfer offers. I am fully focused on Besiktas’ success. I want to go further in the Champions League and do well for my team. For now, I am not interested in these topics.”

This week we covered reports from Turkey that Besktias were tempted to sell Tosun to Newcastle United in exchange for Mitrovic plus €7m, which doesn’t sound the greatest of deals.

The Serbian international doesn’t look to be in the plans of Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez, and may need to find another club in the new year.

However, Beskitas manager Senol Gunes isn’t that keen on Mitrovic, and he’s instructed his board if Tosun is sold for the right price then the Turkey international needs to be replaced with a forward in this bracket.
