Saturday’s edition of De Telegraaf has an article on Ajax’s current situation, and their manager Erik ten Hag, who is one of the possibilities to be Manchester United’s next manager.
Earlier in the season, Ajax were expected to stroll to the Eredivisie title, but that hasn’t been the case. They currently find themselves just two points ahead of second placed PSV, having played the same number of matches.
De Telegraaf, in an article from Mike Verweij, say Ajax have ‘gone adrift and are sailing in a dense fog’. Marc Overmars had to leave due to his off-the-pitch scandal, and Ten Hag has Manchester United ‘pulling’ at him, which means his stay is ‘no longer a certainty’.
The Dutch newspaper then say that if Ten Hag ‘decides to go’ to Manchester United, Ajax will receive around €2m in compensation. That follows on from them getting €5m from Borussia Dortmund for Peter Bosz.
That’s all De Telegraaf have on the situation, both in their newspaper and online, and it’s not a big push forward on how Manchester United see things.
The coming days and weeks should make things clearer.
