After months and months of talks, Deportivo La Coruña have reportedly given up on signing Lucas Perez from Arsenal.
As reported by local newspaper La Voz de Galicia today, the La Liga side won’t be able to match Arsenal’s demands, which are believed to be €15m.
Arsene Wenger hasn’t been prepared to sanction a huge loss on the player, and there’s a feeling in Galicia that Arsenal could even count on Perez next season, despite all that’s been said and done.
Depor’s last attempt to sign Perez was an offer €10m, but that clearly wasn’t enough to convince Arsenal to let him go.
It should be interesting to see what will be of the player’s future now. Deportivo La Coruña were clearly the main suitor, and other clubs don’t seem keen on paying the asking price either.
So even after Perez’s strop over his shirt number, there’s a possibility he could remain where he is. There’s a point at which the offers are so low it’s not worth Arsenal selling, and Wenger clearly believes Perez is still at that point.
