Barcelona’s plan to get every single Euro possible, and then some more, for Gerard Deulofeu may not be coming to fruition. And given the way the club have treated their youth product like a commodity, that’s a good thing.
After the Catalan media almost boasting that Barca would keep Watford on hold for as long as possible this summer and seek more money from elsewhere, Mundo Deportivo now accept the transfer is ‘near’.
Whereas it had been previously insisted Barcelona wouldn’t accept anything less than the €12m they paid to Everton when using the buyback clause, Mundo Deportivo now believe the player could move permanently for just €10m.
The transfer could be a reality ‘sooner rather than later’, according to the claims, and there’s a whole new Catalan spin on things.
Rather than anything below €12m being disastrous, it’s stated on Tuesday that €10m arriving in the Barca accounts for Deulofeu would be a ‘breath of fresh air’ for the club’s accounts.
This looks like a Watford win!
