Towards the end of the winter transfer window, Hull City were linked with many players as Marco Silva looked to make the best of a bad situation. Losing important players to injury and transfer, Silva just got on with things and Hull targeted some impressive additions.
Some moves came off, and inevitably quite a few failed. One of the unsuccessful attempts was trying to sign Cheikh N’Doye from Angers. The 30 year old central midfielder is hugely important for Angers and has attracted interest from the Premier League for a while.
With a contract ending in June, Hull tried their luck with a €1.5m offer but were knocked back. Both player and club came to a ‘mutual agreement’ that it wasn’t the right opportunity.
Angers now look set to lose N’Doye on a free and his current form shows there will certainly be interest. French newspaper L’Equipe have a feature in their Saturday edition covering just what a crucial player N’Doye has been for Angers.
Should Hull avoid relegation then Marco Silva could do a lot worse than signing the player for free in the summer. It’s even a transfer which would please those tightly holding Hull City’s wallet.
