It’s D-Day. Deulofeu Day.

Barcelona’s €12m clause to sign the player back from Everton ends at midnight, unless there’s been an extension nobody currently knows about.

What had been an assumption in Spain that the clause would be used has turned into complete confusion, because it’s not thought Deulofeu wants to go back and be a bit part player.

The Spain U21 captain is keen to have a good chance of going to the World Cup, and sitting on a bench all season isn’t going to help that.

Spanish newspaper AS report that Barcelona’s technical secretary, and transfer guru, Robert Fernandez is travelling to the Euro U21 final tonight. That gives the possibility of last minute talks on a potential return.

Everton and Barcelona are somewhat in the hands of Deulofeu and it won’t be clear until tomorrow what’s happening with the situation.

Even then, few would be surprised if this continues to be a complicated situation.
