According to Greece’s Sportime, Derby County are moving in on Olympiacos defender Bjorn Engels.

There have been recent reports that Brentford are interested in Engels, but it now seems Derby County are also in the mix.

Sportime have gone with the headline ‘Lampard wants Engels’ and it’s reported Derby County officials are currently trying to finalise a deal for the player.

It’s claimed Brentford were on the verge of signing Engels but a phone call from Derby County boss Frank Lampard has changed things.

Engels now looks likelier to join Derby County over Brentford due to the Lampard factor, as far as the Greek media are concerned, as the Championship side look to add to their squad in this window.

Engels made 24 appearances for Olympiacos last season and is under contract with the club until 2020.

In the past the Belgian has been linked with a move to the Premier League whilst playing for Club Brugge, but nothing materialised. The player eventually headed to Greece.
