Raul Jimenez has had a reasonable start to his Wolves career.

Three goals in 12 matches isn’t terrible, and it’s much better situation for the striker than what he’d been experiencing at Benfica.

There, Jimenez struggled to get minutes and struggled to impress when he did get on the pitch for the Lisbon club. A transfer had been talked up for over a year and the opportunity of a Wolves loan with a purchase option was too good for everyone involved to turn down.

But the Mexican has only scored one goal for his club once since September, and that was a penalty against Tottenham in the 3-2 defeat. If Wolves are going to use their €38m purchase clause then things simply must improve between now and the end of the season.

Jimenez is a big deal in his home country and the Mexican version of Marca has contacted Wolves legend Steve Bull to ask him his opinion on the player.

Bull was hardly going to be overcritical, and said: “He works very hard, he runs around in every game, he’s one of the best strikers we’ve had in recent years. When he takes shape and develops his full potential, he’ll be fearsome for rivals in the Premier League.”

However, he added: “He lacks hunger in front of the goal, otherwise he does everything perfect, but if he could score more goals, he would be a rounded player.”
