Wednesday’s edition of German newspaper Bild carried a rather big claim about Tottenham wanting to sign Max Meyer from Schalke.
It was explained that Spurs were very keen indeed to sign the young star, and could even pay €45m to make the deal happen before the window shuts.
The story didn’t last very long, because on Wednesday afternoon, Bild are saying that any potential deal is completely dead. It’s explained that Meyer will not be moving to Tottenham for one very simply reason: There’s been no ‘official’ offer presented to Schalke.
We’d hazard a guess there’s been no offer of any kind, official or otherwise.
Bild say that even if Tottenham had made an official offer, Schalke had decided not to sell the player anyway. So there.
A strange, quickly resolved, transfer story.
