Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira keeps being linked with Benfica in Portugal.
On Friday, Portuguese newspaper Record had a big piece saying the Eagles are interested in signing André Moreira from Atletico Madrid, but Pereira remains an option for the club.
Although the the youngster’s contract at Manchester United expires in 2018, it’s claimed that the player already knows the club’s intentions to extend it.
However, the lack of appearances is something concerning for him, and that’s what Benfica would rely on to achieve the transfer.
It’s a little strange that Benfica would use this as an argument to sign Pereira. They currently have Ederson, who’s on the top level, and are willing to sign another keeper. So that’s not exactly a very convincing argument to attract someone who wants to play.
Joel Pereira spent the first half of the season at Belenenses, and was called back by José Mourinho last January. He’s currently recovering from a knee injury.
