Real Madrid are on the verge of renewing Isco’s contract, report Marca on Tuesday, but that hasn’t been without interest from elsewhere. Not so long ago the Madrid media were reporting Isco edging towards the exit door, with the Premier League a likely destination.
Liverpool have been linked at various points and Marca say they’re one of the clubs to have made a genuine effort. Isco would add some genuine class to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad, so interest is understandable.
Marca claim that Liverpool met with the player’s father Paco Alarcon, who also acts as Isco’s agent, to talk about a possible switch this summer. Despite the player’s preference for the Premier League in case of a Madrid exit, his true desire was to stay where he is, and that’s led to a renewal.
Isco will extend to 2022, report Marca, and have his wages doubled, something which will have been helped by interest from Liverpool and elsewhere.
Klopp will have to cross this one off the ‘maybe’ list.
