La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña reportedly have Gerard Deulofeu as their number one target for the January window.

As they club seek a replacement for the former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel, they’d be keeping an eye on the Everton player to take his place, El País says.

The newspaper recalls that Barcelona still have an option to buy the player back for €9m until June, but reckons it’s really unlikely they’ll do that given the small amount of game time the Spaniard is getting in the Premier League.

Deportivo would want Deulofeu in the same kind of deal they used to sign Joselu from Stoke City. That is a simple loan, with the player having a small cut in his wages in order to try and turn around in his career at the Spanish side.

Deulofeu has made 12 appearances for Everton this season, but failed to score any goals or make any assists. The Toffee’s response to the loan isn’t mentioned in El País’ article.
