Eric Bailly has been plagued with multiple injuries since he arrived at Manchester United from Villarreal in 2016.
The Ivory Coast international will have a year left on his contract after this season.
In November 2020, the 27-year-old’s agent said his situation will be assessed if there’s no improvement in his playing time. Since then, Bailly has made two league appearances and a few more appearances in other competitions.
According to Grada3, Real Betis are ‘interested’ in the centre-back and Manuel Pellegrini’s side join Valencia and Villarreal in chasing the player.
Without a renewal, Aïssa Mandi is expected to leave Los Verdiblancos as a free agent once his contract expires on June 30th and Bailly could be a replacement for the Algerian.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer no longer counts on the former Villarreal man, which is why the Premier League side are looking to sell him after this campaign.
It’s claimed United’s negotiating position is ‘not strong’ because of the time left on the player’s current deal, there’s belief of earning close to €10m from his sale.
The English club will have to lower their demands since none of the suitors in Spain will be ready to pay around €10m. In the event Solskjaer’s side lower their asking price for Bailly, Real Betis could come in and take advantage of the situation.
Although the Seville based club are interested in the United player, his incorporation will ‘solely and exclusively’ be considered if Mandi doesn’t renew his contract at Real Betis.
If Mandi leaves, Pellegrini’s side will have to bring in a replacement and ‘that’s where Bailly’ would come into the picture.
