There are few things the Catalan sport media love more than stirring the pot at Real Madrid, and for a long time that’s involved Gareth Bale.
The former Tottenham has been linked with an exit from Madrid since not long after joining, with Manchester United the club linked most strongly and most often. Jose Mourinho made clear his desire to sign the player whilst in charge at Old Trafford, but explained that Bale himself needed to make it clear he wanted an exit.
Up to now, that hasn’t happened. Despite years of reports from England that Bale wants a return to the UK, and from Spain that various Premier League clubs want him, he’s stayed where he is. Happy in Spain and with his life in the country.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport has a small, but claim packed, article on the player.
The Catalan newspaper says that should he leave Real Madrid, Bale wants a move to Manchester United. However, his club would rather sell to Chelsea, because they have a better relationship with the London club.
With Bale turning 30 years of age this summer, the possibility of either Manchester United or Chelsea spending a huge amount on him is surely decreasing quickly.
