Birmingham City are getting close to signing Valencia midfielder Frank Villalba, according to reports from Spain this Sunday.
Several Spanish outlets claim today that a deal is being negotiated, and it’s quite likely the player is moving to the Championship side until Thursday.
Plaza Deportiva is one of those reporting the story. They say Valencia are not keeping an option to buy the player back, but could perhaps keep a percentage of a future deal.
The player did not travel with Valencia’s squad for pre-season and his departure is said to be ‘very advanced’.
El Desmarque managed to speak to Villalba’s agents. They’ve said they are not aware of the negotiations, and clearly didn’t want tio help the rumour along. It’s said the player has ‘several options’ for his departure.
Villalba played for Numancia on loan last season, and is in manager Marcelino’s list of departures for the summer. So even if he’s not joining Birmingham City, he’s definitely not staying at the Mestalla side.
