Moussa Sissoko sealed a deadline day move from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur in a €35m deal, after rejecting Everton.
The Frenchman was strongly linked to a number of clubs during the summer, but nothing materialised until the last day of the transfer window, when it promptly all went a little crazy and Everton were left angered.
Sissoko’s former Newcastle teammate Tim Krul has been speaking to Ajax TV ( via Voetbal Primeur), and has revealed Sissoko told him about a potential move to Italy.
He said: “He thought himself that he would go to Italy, that is what he told me only last week.”
Juventus and Inter were reportedly interested in signing Sissoko from Newcastle, but his price tag was a stumbling block.
In the end, Tottenham moved quickly to secure his signing, and the player is expected to make his debut against Stoke City.
Sissoko was in impressive form during the Euros, and will be hoping to deliver similar performances for Tottenham.
