Gustavo Zeballos, sports director at Peruvian side Alianza Lima, says he is hoping to secure an agreement with Manchester City after youngster Kluiverth Aguilar sealed a move to the club.
Aguilar finally completed a move to the Etihad earlier this month following several months of speculation about a move.
He is set to move to England when he turns 18, with AS Peru revealing that City eventually agreed on a €3m price to secure his signature.
The move is a big one for Alianza Lima, with the financial gains representing a ‘great injection of capital’ but also a chance for the club to ‘get back on the world football map’.
And Zeballos says he is hoping they can build on that by forming an agreement with City over some form of partnership.
“Kluiverth’s arrival at Manchester excites us,” the newspaper reports him saying.
“It allows us to think that in the future it will surely be seen how to make some agreements, suddenly think about doing internships with the coaches and players.
“It is a topic that we have not discussed, but we think that It could be effective for the institution.”
AS explains that the club see a relationship which would allow them to send their ‘most talented youngsters’ to the various clubs currently run by the City Group.
Such an agreement would allow them to receive a ‘significant sum of money’ that would help them to further ‘professionalise’ the club.
This type of arrangement has become commonplace in the modern game, with City already having agreements in place with the likes of the Ghana Football Association, San Antonio Football Club and NAC Breda among others.
That’s what Alianza Lima want too and, with a connection already established as a result of Aguilar’s move to Manchester City, perhaps they’ll be able to push for it.
