Towards the end of October, Fluminense’s André revealed it was ‘very difficult’ for him to reject a move to Liverpool in the last window.
Earlier this year, the midfielder had promised manager Fernando Diniz that he’d stay at the club until the end of this year, and this is why he refused to accept the Reds’ offer.
On October 24th, Gazeta Esportiva stated Fluminense will start talks for the 22-year-old’s exit after the end of the Brazilian season, which is in the first week of December. It was also said Liverpool are one of the candidates to sign him in January.
This is further backed up by AS, who explain that ‘Liverpool love him’.
Fluminense will face Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final on Saturday, and ahead of this big clash, AS interviewed the Brazilian. He’s a product of Fluminense’s youth system and has been with their first team since 2020.
When asked if his cycle at the Brazilian club is coming to an end, he said: “I don’t like to project the future much. I have been at Fluminense for 10 years, I have a contract and I am very happy here. Reaching the final of the Libertadores is a childhood dream.”
AS then asked him about Liverpool’s interest from the summer, and when responding to that, the Fluminense star had positive things to say about Jürgen Klopp.
“I follow the away games a bit and I know that Klopp’s work is exceptional. Without a doubt, he is a great coach, very intelligent and successful. But right now, my coach is Diniz,” André explained.
