Liverpool aren’t expected to break the bank this summer, with few clubs looking to spend hugely give the current situation. Swap deals are likely to be more common around Europe, and for many it’ll be a case of filling squad gaps as creatively as possible.
Jurgen Klopp spoke to the German media at the weekend, and whilst he said Jadon Sancho would look good in the Reds shirt, he also made sure to talk down any huge signings for the next window.
Now, SportBild say he’s spoken again, and it’s largely much of the same. Klopp doesn’t feel the Liverpool team needs anything obvious, and explained the club will ‘try to be creative’ in the market.
He also spoke about youth players coming through, and wanting to give opportunities to them.
The most interesting part of SportBild’s article is when they come around to Thiago Alcantara. His contract expires in June 2021, and despite the outlines of a renewal already being agreed, it hasn’t been signed and it’s now thought he wants to leave Bayern Munich.
SportBild state that at Bayern there’s talk of Liverpool interest, and the German publication say they ‘know’ Klopp ‘thinks big things’ about Thiago, and that midfield is where Liverpool need a reinforcement most.
If there’s going to be one big name arrival at Anfield this summer, then it could be Thiago Alcantara.
