Klopp behind Liverpool interest in Real Madrid ace, phone won’t stop ringing

Marca say that Real Madrid’s telephone will not stop ringing with offers for Marco Asensio. The 20 year old attacking midfielder has more than 20 offers to leave Madrid, after a successful loan period with Espanyol.

That led to Asensio’s agent meeting with Real Madrid on Wednesday to assess the situation and decide the youngster’s future. Marca explain that last summer Asensio was much wanted too, but this time the level of clubs interested has taken a jump.

Villarreal and Valencia want the player, but so do top teams from England and Germany. Asensio would like to prove to Zinedine Zidane that he’s ready for Real Madrid’s first team, but there’s a worry at the club about stalling the player’s development.

Any move would surely be a loan, with Asensio contracted until 2020, and no final decision will be taken until Real Madrid face Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup, on August 9th.

Marca claim that Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in Asensio. That interest is prompted by manager Jurgen Klopp, who is said to be a long term follower of the talented youngster.
