For the past few weeks, reports coming out of Italy have pushed forward Liverpool as a firm contender to sign Inter Milan star Nicolò Barella.
This is further backed up by InterLive.it, who add the Reds are one of the English clubs keeping an eye on the 26-year-old.
The midfielder has been instrumental for the Italian club this season, and they have now sealed a berth in the Champions League final.
His displays have pleased Jürgen Klopp and the manager ‘constantly’ talks about him, according to the report. It’s stated the German manager has asked his club’s owners ‘for an effort’ to secure Barella’s services in the summer.
InterLive believe there’s a possibility of the Nerazzurri receiving an offer of around €80m from Liverpool.
The Serie A side would do their best to retain the player because they have struggled when he was not on the pitch this season. They are also aware it would be hard to resist an offer from Liverpool or another big English club in the next window.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Liverpool owners will take Klopp’s recommendation to sign the Serie A star seriously.
