Newcastle United remain in the picture to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus this summer as the situation around the player gets increasingly complicated.
Cheisa’s contract with the Turin club expires in less than a year and he’s so far been reluctant to sign a renewal. That means the Serie A side want to sell him in the current market as they try to avoid losing the player for free.
The player himself isn’t rushing and isn’t panicked by the situation at all, which is making Juventus all the more nervous in what is described as ‘a kind of chess game’.
Corriere della Sera cover the situation today and say Chiesa is currently evaluating offers. There’s the mention of a possible swap arrangement with Manchester United involving Jadon Sancho, and also Newcastle United.
Inter Milan are keen but they’d rather wait and sign him on a free next year. That scenario, losing Cheisa for free to a major rival, is something Juve will do anything to avoid.
Reports in Italy have put the asking price at €20-25m and it may even go lower in the coming weeks.
Newcastle United remain in the picture and Juventus would surely be keen on a deal with their fellow black and whites.
