Villarreal have sold Cedric Bakambu to Beijing Gouan for a remarkable €40m, and now they need to replace the striker. Catalan newspaper Sport say Villarreal are looking for a ‘killer’, someone to put the ball in the back of the net.

That leads the newspaper to say there’s interest in Sandro Ramirez.

A brilliant season with Malaga last time around led to much interest in Sandro, and he ended up moving to Everton for his €6m clause. That switch hasn’t gone too well, and a return to Spain looks on the cards.

Valencia were the club most strongly linked, but they backed away when it became clear a loan from Everton, and specifically Sandro’s wages, wouldn’t come cheap.

Villarreal’s €40m boost will obviously help them with any deal, but Sport say the Spanish side are still looking for value, hence the Sandro interest.

The Everton player isn’t the only option, but he’s one who it’s thought is available and who would be keen on the move.
