Christian Eriksen’s time at Inter Milan looks to be coming to an end, at least if the Italian club have much say in it. For weeks now there’s been public messages coming from Inter making it clear they won’t stand in the Denmark international’s way should he decide to leave.

Arsenal were the club first linked, with the idea of a swap for Granit Xhaka floated. That theme has continued over the past few weeks, with intermediaries apparently working on the case and presenting possible deals to various parties.

InterNews now take claims from Italian radio about a claimed €12m offer from Arsenal for the former Tottenham player. They go with a headline asking ‘Are they kidding?’ and then describe such an offer as ‘crazy’.

There’s said to be a ‘remarkable difference’ between €12m and what Inter would accept, considering they paid €27m for the player less than a year ago. Yet, even if the Arsenal offer exists, it’s clear Inter will likely lose money with a sale.

Eriksen’s star has faded hugely during his time in Italy, and had already started to lose its shine at Spurs, hence why he signed for Inter and not the calibre of club (Real Madrid and Barcelona) the Danish press had been so excited about.

Nevertheless, should Arsenal want him it’s claimed they’ll need to go higher. Maybe a loan with an optional purchase clause, which allows Inter to save face for a while, could do the trick.
