With a big game in the Europa League coming up against Manchester United, the Italian press are trying to get an idea what kind of team Stefano Pioli will be putting out.
We already all know that Zlatan Ibrahimović will not be taking part in the first leg, putting an end to his return to Old Trafford, but there could be other missing personnel.
Calciomercato look at this on Tuesday, reporting that Théo Hernández ‘should be among the squad for the Europa League match’, meaning his fibula injury that kept him out of the weekend game against Verona, which allowed Diogo Dalot to shine, has now been sorted.
That being said, Sport Mediaset label the French defender as ‘remaining strongly in doubt’ for the fixture.
There are, however, two others who will miss the fixture, and those are Ante Rebic and Hakan Calhanoglu, with both Calciomercato and their colleagues reporting the paid will remain in Milan.
The Croatian has been doing ‘custom work’, which also applies to the Turkey international, currently on a program for ‘individual work’.
Both sources make it clear the Serie A side ‘don’t want to take the slightest risk’ with players at the moment, as forcing them to play against Manchester United could lead to injury relapses, proving damaging to their attempts to close the gap with Inter in the league.
So, a slightly depleted squad at Pioli’s disposal, who will likely have to use Rafael Leão up top, with both Mario Mandzukić and Ibrahimović out of action for the time being.
