Manchester United are in the picture for AC Milan star Rafael Leão, according to a surprise claim in Italy.

The winger was unhappy with Stefano Pioli’s decision to take him off the pitch in his side’s 2-2 draw against Napoli last weekend. Calciomercato.it point that out and add the coach seems to be having ‘bit of difficulty’ managing him.

Leão has scored three goals and registered four assists from 13 games this season and his form has dropped when compared to last season.

It’s claimed ‘things could radically change’ for him if his performances don’t improve, as his future at the San Siro ‘no longer seems certain’. When discussing options, Manchester United are mentioned.

Even though there’s been suggestions of Manchester City interest elsewhere, the outlet states Milan must ‘keep an eye’ on both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. PSG may look at Leão to replace Kylian Mbappé, if the latter were to leave after this season.

Calciomercato.it explain the 24-year-old could decide to part ways with the Serie A side if there’s the ‘right offer’, but they don’t mention what’s deemed as the ‘right offer’.

Leão operates on the left wing, a position that’s currently occupied by Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United, and the latter two signed long-term deals at Old Trafford earlier this year.

This rumour feels a little forced, so it’s worth waiting for more before taking it especially seriously.
