For all the talk of Juventus wanting Emre Can and them being ready to do anything to get the Liverpool midfielder to join them either now or in the summer, the Serie A club still appear to have a conscience.
Gazzetta dello Sport report on Wednesday that instead of going behind the Reds’ backs and approaching the Germany international, even if they’re allowed to now that he’s six months away from the end of his contract, the Serie A side would ‘prefer to start a dialogue with the Anfield Road company’s leaders’.
The reason behind this is rather self-serving, as the Turin club want to maintain a good relationship with Liverpool going forward, and the next few days ‘will be important to understand if the practice can be resolved quickly or if there will be a need to wait for new steps’.
To us, that very much sounds like Juventus wanting Emre Can as quickly as possible, and the only reason they would need to talk to Jürgen Klopp’s side is to put an offer on the table.
On Tuesday, Corriere dello Sport suggested a bid of €5-6m could be made to speed things along, an amount we find hard to believe Liverpool would accept for a key player, even if his contract is nearly up.
