The biggest talking point of the summer transfer window was definitely Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United from Juventus.

The 23-year-old returned to the Premier League giants for a world record transfer fee surpassing Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid.

Juventus’ CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, has been speaking to Juve TV (via Calciomercato), and was asked about Pogba’s move to the Premier League.

Marotta insists the French midfielder was keen on returning to his former club Manchester United, and that they wanted to keep him at the club but faced an impossible task.

The Juventus boss explained: “Pogba? Destiny was in his head. I didn’t want to sell, but he wanted a change of scenery. It was impossible to keep him.”

Juventus also splashed big money to sign Argentine star Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, and Marotta claims the signing of the former Napoli star had nothing to do with Pogba’s sale.

He added: “Higuain? I want to clarify that he would have come regardless of the sale of Pogba.”
