Juventus find themselves right in the middle of the rumour mill. Maybe more than any other club on the planet, this summer Juve have been the subject of huge, and seemingly strong, transfer claims.

Right now Gonzalo Higuain is heavily linked with a move to the club for as much as €94m. That would be one of the biggest transfers in history and shake Italian football. Naples would be so angry that Mount Vesuvius may well erupt.

Then there’s Paul Pogba, Mino Raiola has helped Manchester United rumours along this summer, and there’s genuine hope among supporters of the English club that a deal could be done.

Juventus themselves are making sure they’re prepared. Speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici said: “At Juve, we have Bonucci and Pogba, desired by many clubs, and we are prepared for possible replacements.”

Pogba’s future seems very much dependent on what the player himself wants to do. Juventus’ finances are these days so good they wouldn’t have to sell him to cover a deal for Higuain.

There’s a whole list of other players the club was already planning to sell, and then more they could release, without harming the squad too much. Last summer Juventus spent £115m, and after sales it worked out at around £50m net, Manchester United’s net spend was just under £40m.

Both clubs look set to spend big again this summer, and may well be doing business with each other.
