Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga has insisted the move to the club meant ‘everything’ to him as he focuses on improving moving forwards.
The winger has been speaking to Fotboll Skanalen about his time at Nottingham Forest so far after joining them last season.
He made the decision to join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side last summer in a €17.5m deal from Manchester United, bringing an end to an eight-year spell at Old Trafford.
He moved there as a youngster and rose through the ranks at the club but, despite breaking into the first team set up, was never a consistent starter over the last year.
It was made clear he was not a part of Erik ten Hag’s plans moving forwards and so he moved on, a decision that has worked out well, with him managing 36 games in the Premier League last season and bagging five goals and nine assists as well.
He found the regular playing time he wanted and has made it clear how happy he is with the situation, even if he knows there is more to come from him moving forward.
Elanga has reiterated that today, insisting the move to Nottingham Forest means everything to him but there’s more for him to achieve.
“I think I had a good season. Nottingham stayed in the Premier League and that’s what matters,” he said.
“I have scored goals and many assists. I was just trying to do my thing. What I wanted to do this season was show what I can do. Because I didn’t get much playing time in (Manchester) United and now I got a lot of playing time in Nottingham.
“The move has meant everything to me. I’m so thankful. Now I have shown the world what I can do. I know that next season will be even better.
“I know what I want to do. And I know I will do what I want to do. Now I’m just here to focus on these two games and then I know that next season will hit. I have written down the goals and they are in my head too.”
