Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin has admitted he wants to play in the Premier League at some point in his career, and his stay at Ibrox is just a step towards that.
The Belgian has been speaking to La Tribune, relayed by Proximus, regarding his career so far and his plans for the future, including his hopes of playing for Belgium.
Raskin joined Rangers in a €1.5m deal from Standard Liege at the end of the January transfer window, with manager at the time, Michael Beale, electing to pay to get him rather than wait for his contract to expire the following summer.
He’s made 27 appearances for Rangers since his arrival, establishing himself as a key player early on and competing with the likes of Jose Cifuentes, John Lundstram, Ryan Jack and Steven Davis for a starting role.
Like many players, he will be hoping to shine at Ibrox in the coming years to prove himself to the national team, where competition for midfield places is currently high.
Raskin admits that is part of his plan, which also includes a plan to leave Rangers and end up in the Premier League.
“I am now at 98 games for Standard, surely it would be nice to one day round that 100 mark there,” he said.
“One day I want to play in the Premier League, but I don’t put pressure on myself. I have a plan in my head, Rangers is just a stage in that.
“Rangers was the best choice at that time (in January) to realise my plan.”
