It’s just been a year since Raphinha was given his debut with the Brazilian national team. Following all the potential he’d shown at Leeds United, the player had finally been called up by manager Tite and quickly showed he was a big deal in international football as well.

A lot happened in these 13 months, with the winger becoming a regular starter and making it clear he’d been taken to the World Cup. And despite leaving the Whites for Barcelona this summer, not a lot has changed.

Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo today write a piece about Raphinha being a ‘sensation’ at the national team, as he did very well against Ghana last Friday.

Speaking of the orders given by Tite, the outlet writes that the manager asks the player to do the same for Brazil, ‘just as he did at Leeds’, but giving him a little more freedom to attack and feel comfortable.

Even though Raphinha is now a Barcelona star and Mundo Deportivo could be just highlighting how a Camp Nou player is doing great for Brazil, they actually give the Whites a lot of credit.

They recall that Tite had praised Marcelo Bielsa for ‘supporting’ Raphinha at Leeds, making it clear the player belonged to the Elland Road side when he starting shining for the national team.
