Corriere Dello Sport journalist Furio Fedele has rubbished suggestions that Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu could return to AC Milan.
The Spaniard enjoyed a productive loan spell with AC Milan in 2017 after joining the Serie A side on loan from Everton in the January transfer window.
He managed four goals and two assists in 18 games during that spell but ultimately ended up heading back to Barcelona on a permanent transfer that summer.
Nonetheless, he remains well thought of at the San Siro and was linked with a return to the club during the summer transfer window.
Those rumours resurfaced in recent weeks, with suggestions that Milan could make a move as they try to turn around a disappointing start to the season.
Deulofeu dismissed such suggestions himself, insisting he was happy at Watford, despite his struggles this season and Watford sitting in the bottom three.
Fedele has now added further cold water to the fire, insisting there is nothing in the rumours.
“There was a small spark, but it was just re-heated soup (hot air),” he told CalcioMercato.it.
“The only exception could be Ibrahimovic, even you have to see Milan needs real people, a strong structure in the field and above all of a coach who will give you a release.
“The situation is very complex, and we hope that it will not be compromised.”
