On Thursday Jurgen Klopp insinuated that whatever he said regarding the Coutinho saga would be used to make stories. He was of course right, and there have been numerous articles in the English and Spanish media.
Over at Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo it’s explained that Klopp is pretty much washing his hands of the situation. Mundo haven’t gone huge with their story, it’s tucked in on page 12, rather than give the front cover treatment, and it’s believed everything is ticking along.
But it’s not ticking along perfectly, with the newspaper claiming Liverpool have asked for more money. They’re said to still be angered over the Nike website stunt and are ‘reluctant to accept’ €110m plus €40m in bonuses.
There’s Catalan confidence Coutinho can be a Barcelona player next week, but they’re not yet 100% convinced, there’s still room for everything to fall to pieces.
Klopp is now being edged out of the story, with Mundo Deportivo saying he’s leaving things to the ‘executive leadership of Liverpool’.
