With the Portuguese media featuring several stories ahead of the Champions League clash between Benfica and Liverpool, an interesting piece from newspaper Record stands out.
The newspaper managed to speak to a source, described as an English football consultant who requested anonymity, who brings some information on the Reds’ view of the Eagles.
The highlighted claim here is regarding two Benfica stars, and Jurgen Klopp reportedly has their names ‘underlined’. The pair are Rafa Silva and Darwin Nunez.
It’s claimed that both players have been impressing the Liverpool manager, who considers the duo to be ‘very skilful’.
It’s also pointed that Klopp considers Benfica to be a ‘well organised’ team.
“Collectively, the team is very good. It’s well organised and also has good, skilful and creative players,” said Record’s source.
The source also highlighted the experience from Benfica defenders Nicolas Otamendi and Jan Vertonghen, who have both played for English clubs, and did a big job when stopping Ajax’s pressure in Amsterdam.
“Experience is always important in the Champions League and they know the Premier League very well,” he said.
Both Rafa Silva and Benfica have been linked to Premier League moves this year, and in case they do well against Liverpool, there’s no doubt those rumours will only grow.
