Jurgen Klopp could be set to do Crystal Palace a massive favour this summer, pushing RB Leipzig away from Oliver Glasner and towards Cesc Fabregas.

BILD report today that Klopp, who now works as head of football at Red Bull, has personally spoken to Fabregas to convince him to join Leipzig this summer.

The newspaper explains that Leipzig’s search for a new manager continues, with no successor to Marco Rose secured as yet despite him being sacked in March.

Internally they still hope to lure Fabregas from Como and are fighting to convince him on the move. That’s seen Klopp step in, as part of his role as global head of football at Red Bull, to speak to the Spaniard. Leipzig hope he can use his ‘persuasive power and experience’ on the former midfielder.

Fabregas remains difficult to get but is the preferred candidate ahead of Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner at this point.

He’s still considered a ‘serious option’, but Leipzig are yet to talk to Crystal Palace about him. Furthermore, he has a contract until 2026 and is ‘significantly more expensive’ than Fabregas. It would take a ‘double-digit’ fee to get him out of Crystal Palace this summer.

Despite the repeat German confidence that Glasner would be keen, the Austrian media has repeatedly explained he doesn’t want to leave English football.
