Markovic A Bola August 7thJurgen Klopp’s comments on Lazar Markovic’s situation have made it to the Portuguese papers this weekend, as the player is said to be a target for Sporting.

In a press conference, the German manager hinted that Markovic could end up leaving in case Liverpool make more signings: “He’s a good boy and works hard. At the end we will have to see how we will build our squad.”

Portuguese newspaper A Bola have taken the quotes as an encouragement for Sporting, but the club still seems to be too slow to make the signing.

During the past few months, we’ve covered stories which said the Sporting manager Jorge Jesus had already talked to the player, who gave the green light to a move, and the conversations between the Portuguese club and Markovic’s agent had started.

It was also said that Sporting wanted a loan, but as Liverpool’s wish was to let the player go permanently, the transfer was starting to look too difficult.

But on Sunday, A Bola are saying that Sporting still haven’t made any approaches for the winger, despite having him on their shortlist. They mention the recent rumours which linked the player to Fiorentina and Schalke as well.

By making these claims, A Bola are basically playing it against Record. Time will tell who is right.
