When Edinson Cavani’s father said there was a 60% chance the striker will leave Manchester United for Boca Juniors this summer, it seemed like there was no better source to talk about this case.
However, we continue seeing people in South America who disagree with it, claiming the player is staying at Old Trafford for at least one more year.
Earlier today, it was journalist Seba Giovanelli who claimed Cavani would likely remain with Manchester United until the 2022 World Cup.
Then, live on TyC Sports, it was time for journalist Leandro Aguillera to dismiss what the player’s father said, and despite Luis Cavani giving an interview to that very same network on Tuesday, the reporter didn’t mind claiming the opposite.
“The father’s statements do not match what Cavani is thinking,” said Aguillera (via Bola Vip).
“The chance for him to renew with Manchester United and continue one more year in England is growing more and more. Boca’s dream could be postponed for another year. If he wants to come, the club’s doors will be open. June will be a very important month: his son will be born in Uruguay, we will be with the Copa América and he will solve what he wants to do with his future.”
Even though Cavani’s contract expires at the end of the season, there’s an option in his deal to extend it for one more year, with the Uruguayan ESPN previously claiming Manchester United would like to keep the Uruguayan star for longer, allowing him to end his career at the club.
