Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has revealed a deal has yet to be agreed for Juventus defender Patrice Evra to join Crystal Palace. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Premier League side, with claims a deal was close.
Speaking to TMW Radio, Ceccarini was asked about the future of Evra with the Serie A champions, he confirmed both Crystal Palace and Valencia are showing an interest in Evra. Ceccarini added that Crystal Palace still don’t have anything in place to sign the left back, and there’s a possibility he could remain at Juventus.
“Nothing is yet set with Crystal Palace, there is also Valencia. Though I would not totally rule out him staying at Juventus,” said the Italian journalist.
Yesterday Sky Sports reported Crystal Palace were close to signing the former Manchester United star following claims talks were underway. Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bolster his defence in this window and Evra was held aloft as a serious option.
There’s no real update across the Italian media, but Juventus are being increasingly linked with Saed Kolasinac of Schalke. The Italian media are claiming the Evra to Crystal Palace claims came from England, but Sky’s report credits Sky Italia, so it seems nobody wants to take ownership.
